E-commerce or eCommerce refers to an Electronic Commerce website.  A website that trades in products or services through secure transactions, using a digital means such as the World Wide Web.

E-commerce businesses include a virtual storefront on websites with online catalogs, a “virtual mall”, and buying or selling.  Typically an E-commerce website gathers and uses demographic data through web contacts and social media.

In this example , a static website is displayed, however, there is a tremendous amount of custom scripting “behind the scenes” that makes this type of website work.  This websites pages when interacted with produce ever-changing information.  Because of this, it can be classified as a “dynamic” website.

“Dynamic” simply refers to that which is generated in real time.  Though a website can have static appearing elements, does not mean a website is not dynamic.  Dynamic website is referring to the real-time producing scripting inside the body and construction of the website.

E-Commerce websites or those which have purchasing capabilities often entail pages to produce information in real-time.  Web scripting codes such as PHP or ASP are often used.  When a dynamic page is accessed, the code within the page is parsed on the Web server and the resulting HTML is then sent to the Web browser.
